Work Detail The soil testing process for the construction of a 5km-long, six-lane elevated highway in Porvorim is currently underway. This essential step will guide the construction process based on the soil characteristics revealed. According to officials, the project entails the construction of 78 pillars along the 5km stretch, supporting the road surface made of prefabricated blocks. Utilizing prefabricated blocks is expected to accelerate the construction timeline. Rajasthan-based company Rajendra Singh Bhamboo Infra, awarded the contract for the project in November last year, has been allotted two years for completion. This extended timeline is due to the high vehicle density in Porvorim, where construction activities are anticipated to cause significant traffic congestion. An official involved in the project stated, "The soil investigation for the project has commenced. This involves assessing soil strata, soil carrying capacity, and the quality of underlying rock. Factors such as the fragility or hardness of the rock layer will be evaluated. A consultant has been appointed for the project, and a geo-technologist will analyze the soil to determine the depth at which solid rock can be found." This information will inform the finalization of construction technology for the pillars.
