This initiative, valued at RM27 million, aims to power NTPM’s facilities across Nibong Tebal, Penang, and Parit Buntar, Perak, effectively reducing carbon emissions and aligning with national greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting requirements. The fully operational solar project, which commenced on December 31, 2023, signifies NTPM’s commitment to building sustainability into its operations. Recognized for producing household products such as PREMIER tissue and eco-friendly CUTIE COMPACT tissue, NTPM has actively promoted the use of recycled paper through awareness campaigns. Lee highlighted that by adopting solar energy, NTPM expects to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 7,365 tons annually, aligning with their five-year target of maintaining carbon emissions below 1000 kg of CO2e per ton of paper. Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Solarvest, expressed pride in supporting NTPM’s sustainability journey. He underscored the significance of exploring green energy options to achieve Malaysia’s carbon neutrality goal by 2050, citing solar panel installation and carbon accounting measures as crucial steps in decarbonization efforts.
