PNN 66243
Work Detail United Utilities has sought a technical advisor in a GBP 50 million (US$ 62 million) contract to aid in the delivery of its Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Scheme (HARP) to replace tunnels that provide water for the Lake District. The GBP 1.75 billion (US$ 2.2 billion) HARP project is an initiative aimed at preserving drinking water resources across Cumbria, Lancashire, and Manchester for future use. The Haweswater Aqueduct, stretching over 110 km from the Lake District through Lancashire to Greater Manchester, was completed in the 1950s and now requires essential maintenance to ensure its continued service to customers for generations ahead. The project includes plans for replacing six tunnel sections along the pipeline route. A procurement process is underway to select a contractor to oversee this major undertaking, with the anticipation of commencing any significant construction activities before 2025.
