Chinese module manufacturer JinkoSolar reports a fire at its Taiyuan integrated module manufacturing plant in Chinas Shanxi province. It states that the incident could affect its 2024 annual results.
JinkoSolars factory in Taiyuan, Shanxi, suffered a fire on the afternoon of April 26. The local fire brigade quickly brought the incident under control without causing any casualties, trapped people, toxic gas leaks or explosions.
The fire later reignited and intensified, forcing firefighters to mobilize a large fleet of firefighting vehicles from various departments.
JinkoSolar issued a statement on April 28 confirming a fire at its subsidiary, Shanxi JinkoSolar II Intelligent Manufacturing. The fire occurred in the wafer and solar cell cutting workshop of the first phase of the installation.
The company continues to assess the damage, with expected impacts on annual results in 2024. The company said it has property insurance coverage and said it has begun the claims process. It has also signaled that it expects lower production capacity and a slower increase in capacity at its Shanxi production base.
The fire broke out at JinkoSolars 56 GW vertically integrated production base in Taiyuan. The project, valued at 56 billion yuan (US$7.7 billion), will cover the entire industrial chain in four phases and include an annual production capacity of 56 GW of monocrystalline ingots, wafers, solar cells and photovoltaic modules.
JinkoSolar declared on March 26 that it had completed the first phase of its 14 GW of integrated production capacity and said it had commissioned production. |
