The price agreed upon in each of the projects, all located in the province of Guanacaste, has been set at 0.05626 dollars/kWh.
The projects, installed capacity and companies awarded are:

The ICE Electricity Manager, Roberto Quirós, explained that these projects “will contribute to satisfying the growing electricity demand which is forecast to increase more than 10% for the next 3 years.” Specifically, it is estimated that electricity demand will grow 4.2% in 2024; 3.4% in 2025 and 3.0% in 2026.
The information adds that “within five business days after the act is finalized, ICE will invite companies to provide the guarantee of compliance and appear to sign the Letter of Commitment, in accordance with the model included in the Terms. of Reference for the Call”.
Last March it had been announced by ICE that between 2024 and 2026, 270 MW of solar will be added, along with 122 MW of wind and 20 MW of biomass. These new plants – which were reported at the time to represent about 12% of the systems capacity in 2024 – “will be developed by ICE, the private sector (according to Law 7200) and public-private alliances.”
Finally, it is added that the ICE Board of Directors endorsed the soon construction of the San Antonio solar plant, in La Uruca, property of the Institute. |
