First of 23 concrete caissons is almost complete to be moved 45 km offshore this summer
A Belgian Government delegation has paid a visit to the construction facility for the country’s energy island, Princess Elizabeth.
At the site, the first 23 concrete caissons has almost reached the end of construction, ready to be moved into position 45 km offshore.
The large concrete building blocks will form the outer walls of the future energy island.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten and State Secretary for Economic Recovery and Strategic Investments Thomas Dermine visited the site in caissons construction site in Vlissingen.
A Belgian consortium comprising DEME and Jan De Nul (TM Edison) is building the foundations of the energy island on behalf of system operator Elia Transmission.
The Princess Elizabeth energy island will be the first building block in an integrated European high-voltage offshore grid. |
