EWEC Launches RFP for 1,500 MW Khazna Solar PV Project to Boost UAE’s Renewable Energy Capacity
EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company), a pivotal entity in water and electricity supply in the UAE, has advanced its latest initiative, the Khazna Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Project, by inviting proposals from pre-qualified developers and consortiums. This 1,500-megawatt solar facility, situated in Al Khazna, Abu Dhabi, marks EWEC’s fourth major venture into utility-scale solar energy. The Request for Proposals (RFP) follows the initial Expression of Interest phase completed in September 2023, which saw 27 entities showing interest, of which 19 successfully moved to the RFP stage. The RFP details the project’s specifications aimed at guiding the bidding developers in crafting their proposals effectively.

Abu Qir Fertilizers Joins Green Hydrogen Revolution In Egypt: MoU Signed With ABB International And MPS Infrastructure
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, presided over a significant milestone in Egypt’s sustainable energy journey as he witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Abu Qir Fertilizers Company, ABB International Group, MPS Infrastructure Company, and Petrojet. The MoU sets the stage for the supply of green hydrogen and renewable electricity to the North Abu Qir for Agricultural Nutrients Company. This collaboration aims to facilitate the production of green ammonia, a crucial raw material for generating granulated ammonium nitrate fertilizer, with a substantial capacity of 2,400 tons per day. Speaking after the signing ceremony, Minister El Molla underscored the distinguished capabilities of the oil and gas sector, particularly in infrastructure development. He emphasized the sector’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector to advance the state’s strategic goals in oil, gas, and green energy.
TIGI Enhances Global Reach in Renewable Heat Sector with Strategic SOLID Acquisition
TIGI, an Israeli renewable heat technology company, has successfully consolidated its position in the global renewable energy market through the acquisition of SOLID, a leader in solar-thermal systems. The recent approval of TIGI’s restructuring of SOLID by an Austrian court marks a significant milestone, as TIGI now owns 90% of SOLID. This move aligns both companies’ expertise and resources, enhancing their capacity to deliver renewable heat solutions worldwide. The partnership is poised to leverage TIGI’s innovative solar collector technology and SOLID’s extensive experience in executing large-scale projects globally. Together, they aim to tap into a broader client base across various sectors, including industrial and commercial markets. In 2023, the collaboration kicked off with a project in California, where they developed a large-scale renewable heat system for an industrial plant, offering heat-as-a-service which reduces costs and emissions by minimizing natural gas usage.
