Work Detail | Ideas poured in on Saturday to develop Nashik as a mega tourist destination under the CM's Visit Maharashtra plan in 2017. State tourism minister Jaykumar Rawal said Nashik Circuit, comprising tourist spots in the region, would be promoted under the 2017 plan. He met officials from the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and other government departments, elected representatives to chalk out the plan to boost Nashik's tourism potential. Rawal said the idea of 'Visit Nashik' would be publicised on the lines of Visit Maharashtra. He also assured of making air service available through small airlines and the gap payment will be borne by the Union and state governments. Various tourism options were also discussed, including the controversial boat club. "The chief minister announced 2017 as Visit Maharashtra year. He wants to give number one priority to tourism. We are trying to attract tourists not just from India but from abroad. We can promote Nashik in Visit Maharashtra project. Our tagline Maharashtra Unlimited can also be applied as Nashik Unlimited. We will develop a circuit here," said Rawal. He added that the way Mumbai residents head to Lonvala for holiday, they can visit the Nashik Circuit. Nashik Circuit will include travel from Mumbai to Igatpuri, Trimbakeshwar, Bhandardhara, Bhavali, Hathgad, Shirdi, Shani Shingnapur, Nandur Madhyameshwar, Saptashrungi, Chandwad, Nashik, Trimbakeshwar in a planned manner. He assured that tourism would be developed in the next decade and they had assembled in Nashik on Saturday for pre-planning. The suggestions of all those present were heard and the state government's plan explained. MLA Rahul Aher suggested promoting medical tourism and Holkar Palace in Chandwad. MP Harishchandra Chavan asked to start ropeway at Saptashrungi Gadh. MP Hemant Godse proposed promoting the city as Lord Ram's land. MLA Devyani Pharande suggested Goda Aarti like Ganga Aarti and Ramdas Swami Muth at Agartakli since he did penance here. MLA Seema Hiray suggested dam tourism, promoting Someshwar and Navshya Ganpati. Wine and agro tourism were also discussed. "We can have Godavari Aarti every evening like Ganga Aarti. Nandur Madhyameshwar Bird Sanctuary is of international importance. We will also resolve the problems with respect to Gangapur Boat Club and will start it soon," said Rawal. He assured of Nashik Darshan buses and package of two days and three nights. Tour operators will be roped in and like Ajanta Ellora, Nashik Darshan will also be developed. "At Govardhan village, we will soon be starting Kalagram on the lines of Delhi Haat. The work is almost complete. Trimbakeshwar has been chosen by the Centre to boost tourism. We can do overall development of Trimbakeshwar. Ropeway work at Saptashrungi Gadh is in the final stages and it will start soon. We will also start Nashik Festival. Working on all these will start in 2-3 months for Visit Maharashtra," said Rawal. He said that many countries thrive on tourism, particularly European countries, and the state government aims to promote tourism here too. Orientation camps will be held for autorickshaw and taxi drivers on how to interact with the tourist. "All sites of ASI will be made plastic free within a radius of 1,000 metres. Action will also be taken against illegal constructions on the hills. The forest department should see if it is in eco-sensitive zones," said Rawal. |
