The Argentine construction and services company began soil movement tasks for the Paracel project, the largest private investment project in the history of the country.
Milicic began the work for the company Paracel SA in Paraguay, necessary for the construction of an Industrial Cellulose Pulp Plant in the region of Concepción, 430 kilometers from Asunción.
“Working on a project of such magnitude as Paracel enables us to expand to new markets outside of Argentina and continue with the internationalization process, just as we did in Uruguay and are doing in Peru,” said Federico Liquitay, Project Manager of Milicic.
Initial works
An initial works contract has begun, called Alternative 7, lasting one year, and prior to the execution of the works of the main contract. Within the scope is the execution of soil movements in different areas that include 1,200,000 m2 of land clearing, 900,000 m3 of excavation and 600,000 m3 of filling corresponding to the infrastructure works of the future plant.
Once these works are completed, the main contract for soil movements and infrastructure for the entire plant will begin, through the Milicic-Tocsa-Ecomipa consortium. “There is very good coordination with the UTE. They have extensive knowledge of suppliers, subcontractors and local information for the development of activities in a sustainable way,” Liquitay added.
Paracel projects an annual production of 1.8 million tons of high-quality bleached pulp, meeting the highest sustainability standards, in a responsible manner with society and the environment.
“We work with high standards of environmental care, with a strong commitment to flora and fauna conservation, reforestation, etc.,” said Liquitay.
At this stage, the project employs 130 direct and indirect collaborators of the Milicic-Tocsa-Ecomipa UTE. In addition, the consortium works with 70 teams for these activities, of which 25 are provided by Milicic.
