Swedish solar developer will staff the new office with three new hires
Swedish solar developer and independent power producer Alight has opened a London office as part of its expansion into the UK.
The developer has hired three new staff for the London office.
Cesar Torres (pictured), Vice President, Investments, will focus on M&A activities, financing, and developing Alight’s pipeline.
Torres previously worked at Nala Renewables, NextEnergy Capital, and EY.
Xander Penney, Business Development Director, will be responsible for building out solar and battery storage capacity in the UK and Ireland.
He was previously a senior manager on the energy transition team at EY-Parthenon, focusing on renewable generation, battery storage and EVs.
Philip Tonkin is Alight’s new Legal Counsel and was formerly at London law firm Addleshaw Goddard, where he focused on international energy transactions.
Tonkin is qualified to practice in Sweden, England, and Wales, and will work across all Alight markets.
Alight is constructing its first UK asset, via a partnership with Lear Corporation, which is a 2.1MW installation in Derbyshire, UK:
Alight builds, operates, and owns onsite and offsite solar projects across Europe.
It provides subsidy-free power purchase agreements to large commercial customers, including H&M, Swedbank and Toyota Material Handling, helping to decrease industrial reliance on fossil fuels across Europe and offer major power users cheaper power, shielding them from market volatility.
Founded in Stockholm in 2013, Alight has offices in Sweden, Spain and now London. |
