The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM) has announced the approval of the so-called Annual Promotions Program 2024, which stipulates that approximately 42 million soles (11.3 million dollars) be allocated to finance electrification projects in 14 locations. of the Amazon region, from photovoltaic solar plants.
According to a statement, the so-called “Sun for All” Energy Frontier Expansion project will cover the towns in the districts of Manseriche, Pastaza, Urarinas, Yavari and Fernando Lores, in the Loreto region, with photovoltaic-based electricity consumption, with the objective of benefiting 1,538 families in the first stage.
The project is complemented to deploy both concentrated and individual systems of photovoltaic panels with a battery bank.
Optimizing health services with the possibility of preserving vaccines or medications that require refrigeration, education services with Internet access and night activities, are some of the possibilities contemplated as improving the quality of life of the population.
It is added that, in order to promote universal access to energy, the MINEM will allocate another 96 million soles (26 million dollars) as part of the 2024 Annual Promotions Program, for the financing of the massive photovoltaic program that benefits more homes, schools and health centers nationwide.
Finally, it is specified that the MINEM is the administrator of the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), which in turn allows financing the projects included in the 2024 Annual Promotions Plan, whose budget for this year exceeds 1,800 million soles (486 million dollars), which will be used in the massification of natural gas and universal access to energy at the national level. |
