Work Detail Philip Green, the Australian High Commissioner to India, emphasized the significant potential for India and Australia to expand their collaboration in skill development, particularly in the fields of digital technology, renewable energy, and infrastructure. Speaking at the Australia-India Skills Partnership Summit, Green highlighted Australia’s global competitiveness in skills training, which is developed in close consultation with industry sectors. Green expressed Australia’s desire to play a more substantial role in supporting India’s skill requirements, anticipated to surge over the next decade. He pointed out India’s status as the world’s fifth-largest economy, currently experiencing the fastest growth rate among major global economies at 8 percent annually. This growth trajectory, according to Green, makes India an attractive partner for countries worldwide, given its economic prospects and complementary nature to Australia’s economy. Australia, with its wealth of skills, resources, and energy, is well-positioned to meet India’s emerging demands in its next growth phase, Green noted. He also mentioned the significant Indian diaspora in Australia, which serves as a foundation for strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in education and skill development. Green underscored the success of Australian education and training providers in delivering skill training across nearly 50 countries. The High Commissioner’s remarks were made in the context of an ongoing initiative to bolster partnership momentum between Australian and Indian institutions. A delegation of 33 representing Australia’s future skills sector is currently in India, working to forge partnerships and collaborative models under the Australia-India Future Skills Initiative. This program aims to facilitate skill delivery in India, catering to the evolving needs of its workforce, and highlights the countries’ commitment to mutual development and cooperation in key economic sectors.
