IT''S JUST DAYS TO GO before Apple lifts the lid on the next-gen iPhone, and KGI Securities'' analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has treated us to the most detailed iPhone 7 leak yet. Kuo, who has a pretty good track record when it comes to Apple-related leaks, has revealed some previously unknown details about the so-called iPhone 7. First up, the handset will be offered in two new colours: Dark Black and, er, Piano Black. The current Space Grey offering will be canned, according to Kuo, which means the smartphone will be offered in five colours, including Silver/White, Gold and Rose Gold. The report noted that the Piano Black model, which will have a glossy finish, will be in short supply at launch, and may be offered exclusively on high-capacity iPhone 7 models. Speaking of which, the iPhone 7 looks set to finally dump the 16GB model in favour of 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options. The iPhone 7 will use a new A10 chip from TSMC that could top out at 2.4GHz-2.45GHz, according to Kuo, and have support for FeliCa NFC, which probably won''t get you too excited unless you live in Japan. Kuo''s report also adds weight to previous speculation that the iPhone 7 could follow the Galaxy S7 with waterproofing. The report, via MacRumors, claimed that the handset will have IPX7 water resistance matching that of the original Apple Watch, protecting it against splashes, showers and even brief dips in water up to one metre deep. There''s talk that the earpiece receiver on the iPhone 7 will also be a speaker thanks to the addition of a new audio amplifier. Beyond that, Kuo doesn''t have many surprises in store, instead reiterating that Apple is likely to dump the 3.5mm headphone jack and equip the 5.5in iPhone 7 Plus with a dual-lens camera system, and that both iPhone 7 models will have a pressure-sensitive ''click-less'' home button.
