Terminal 3 was inaugurated remotely by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on March 10. Constructed at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore, T3 has an initial capacity of handling 80 lakh passengers per year, with plans to increase this to 1.3 crore passengers per year by the end of phase two.
The auspicious occasion saw Lucknow Airport initiating operations by celebrating with passengers. Goodies were distributed to passengers traveling on the first departing flight from Lucknow to Bengaluru (Flight Q), as well as to those arriving on the first flight. Akasa Air operated both arriving and departing flights with nearly 100% capacity. The airline conducted three scheduled flights, two to Bengaluru and one to Mumbai, along with a chartered flight to Bengaluru. On the inaugural day, over 1,200 passengers experienced the new terminals hospitality.
Announcing the commencement of operations, a CCSI airport spokesperson stated, "Terminal 3 has begun operations with world-class infrastructure, focusing on enhancing the passenger experience. Lucknow Airport has deployed over 50 customer service associates and strategically placed signage to ensure that all Akasa Airlines passengers reach Terminal 3 on time and do not miss their flights.
