| Work Detail | Users of last year’s phablets – Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ – on Verizon can rejoice in the fact that the American carrier is now rolling out a major software update to the two handsets. Even though it is not an Android 7.0 Nougat update, it brings with it quite a number of great features. The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ now join this year’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in receiving the latest firmware from Verizon. The update comes with build number VRU2BPG5, with the major highlight being the introduction of support for Barcode Beaming Service. This feature allows for better recognition response for on-device event tickets, library cards, loyalty cards, coupons, membership cards and so on. The update also allows users of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ to easily scan on-device barcodes when using apps such as Samsung Pay or Beep’nGo. The update will also add some new ways of interacting with the Contacts app on your Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+. Once you have updated your phone, you will be able to share images and profiles, send files of up to 1GB, as well as share events through sending invitations to friends to join you. Contacts are also capable of adding images and videos to the shared events. Verizon has also included OnCircle in the update – a new feature that comes to the People Edge where users will access ways to communicate by using more than just words. In short, those using the Galaxy Note 5 or Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be able to express themselves through things like emoticons, touch effects, doodles and even video clips. On the other hand, the update also brings some subtractions to the phones where the Amazon Music app is not default, instead, it is now downloadable via the Google Play Store. However, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ users can be guaranteed of an Amazon widget that allows for easier access to Amazon apps. As usual, the firmware also brings improvements and bug fixes from the previous version. Furthermore, it comes as an OTA update, meaning not all owners of Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will get it at the same time.
