PepsiCo India, a prominent player in the global consumer packaged goods industry, has declared a substantial investment of INR 1266 crore to establish a new flavour manufacturing facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
Emphasizing sustainability, the Ujjain facility is designed to operate exclusively on renewable energy, aiming to cut its carbon emissions by 1.9 metric tons daily. It also plans to utilize Zero Liquid Discharge technology to achieve an impressive 90% water efficiency rate. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to responsible water management and its pledge to replenish every drop of water used in its operations.
This development marks PepsiCo India’s second beverage flavour manufacturing site in the nation and aligns with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, focusing on local production. The facility is a testament to PepsiCo’s dedication to the Indian market and its efforts to contribute positively to the communities it serves. By integrating advanced technologies for water usage and replenishment, the plant is expected to set new benchmarks in eco-friendly operations in line with PepsiCo’s pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) strategy for sustainable growth.
George Kovoor, Senior Vice President, Beverages at PepsiCo India, expressed enthusiasm about the new facility, highlighting it as a key step in meeting the growing demand for beverages in India and advancing the company’s commitment to sustainability and high-quality production standards. |
