Work Detail |
Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL), a producer of polymers and chemicals, plans to make a USD 10 billion investment on an oil-to-chemicals (O2C) project in Tamil Nadu.
The project will convert crude oil directly into chemicals to meet the growing demand for polymers in the country. On completion, the project will have a capacity to make 3.5 million tonne of ethylene and propylene, which are used in shopping bags, car parts and water pipes, among others.
With a modern naphtha-based petrochemical complex located 125 km from Kolkata, at Haldia, HPL’s investment comes amidst a strong demand for chemicals in India. The product portfolio under polyethylene segment consists of various grades of HDPE and LLDPE, used by packaging films, liners, pipe, tarpaulin, and tanks manufacturers in India and overseas. |
