Denmark-based Swire Renewable Energy (SRE) and Taiwan’s Tien Li Offshore Wind Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deliver operations and maintenance services in the Taiwanese offshore wind turbine industry and other parts of the Asia-Pacific region. SRE said that the signing marks a key step for both companies to establish a joint venture focused on delivering localised wind turbine operations and maintenance services. The partners intend to develop a large pool of local Taiwanese technicians with a broad skill set in blade repair, electrical and mechanical maintenance, offshore marine logistics services, and wind turbine operations and maintenance. “Swire Renewable Energy is looking forward to collaborating with a strong partner in Tien Li, particularly given our recent acquisition of blade repair specialist Altitec, and Tien Li’s blade manufacturing experience,” said Ryan Smith, CEO of Swire Renewable Energy. The company opened offices in Taiwan in 2023 and has worked on several offshore wind projects in Taiwan, including Greater Changhua, Yunlin, ChangFang & Xidao, and Zhong Neng in the last 24 months. Tien Li Offshore Wind Technology was established in 2009 and is a manufacturer of high-specification offshore wind turbine blades. The company’s factory is located at the Port of Taichung with 21 hectares of facilities and associated space. “We are excited to embark on this strategic collaboration with Swire Renewable Energy.
