The standard promotes the use of green hydrogen in industry from renewable energies, mainly as an energy vector, as fuel and as an input in industrial processes throughout the country to satisfy national demand and international markets. The Congress of Peru published Law 31992, Law to promote green hydrogen, which aims to promote research, development, production, transformation, storage, conditioning, transportation, distribution, marketing, export and the use of green hydrogen as fuel and as an energy vector, in its different applications. The rule, published on Friday in the legal regulations bulletin of the Official Gazette, states that, “The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) promotes the generation, production and use of green hydrogen in the industry from renewable energies, mainly as an energy vector, as fuel and as an input in industrial processes throughout the country to satisfy national demand and international markets, either as hydrogen or byproducts such as fertilizers, organic liquids, methanol and others.” It is also established that the promotion of the generation, production and use of green hydrogen is carried out in alliance with the private sector, generating collaborative work conditions between companies, universities, regional governments and the State as a whole, promoting to the diversification of the national energy matrix. It also seeks to prioritize projects where the benefit is significant in terms of the development of the national industry, the generation of jobs in the area of ??influence and the recruitment of highly specialized national human resources and technological innovation. In its Final Complementary Provisions, the standard declares of national interest the research, development, production, transformation, storage, conditioning, transportation, distribution, marketing, export and use of green hydrogen as fuel and as an energy vector, in its different applications. The Executive Branch, within a period of no more than one hundred and eighty calendar days from the entry into force of the law, will approve the regulations and additional regulations that are necessary for the application of this law, the legal device states. Its purpose is to “achieve the use and utilization in the national energy matrix in order to improve the quality of life of the population as a result of the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions,” as explained by the presidency of the Government in a statement. |
