Work Detail UK-based Purus has emerged as the buyer of service operation vessel (SOV) Oslo-listed offshore wind vessel pure play Edda Wind sold earlier this year. The Julian Proctor-led diversified owner has acquired the Edda Passat for an undisclosed sum, adding the 2018-built unit renamed Purus Horizon to its growing fleet of offshore wind support vessels. Purus, which currently lists seven newbuilding and operational C/SOVs and nearly 30 crew transfer vessels on its website, said the latest addition would be upgraded to IMO Tier III in the second quarter of 2024 to provide large NOx and SOx savings, and hybridisation in the future. The company entered the offshore wind segment in 2021 with its first SOV purchase and has since acquired CTV owner HST Marine and signed up for several C/SOV newbuild projects at shipbuilders Vard and Damen. The fast-growing company, established in 2020, has been involved in various shipping segments, including ammonia, ethane, LNG, offshore wind, carbon capture and scrubber-fitted containerships and electric ferries.
