Work Detail | Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has approved the establishment of eight new fire stations including the demolition and reconstruction of the Kofar Taramniya Fire Service station in Sokoto. Commissioner of Home Affairs, Alhaji Isa Achida said at a press briefing on Monday that the project aimed at rejuvenating the stations to make them more efficient will cost N220 million. The proposed stations are be located at Mana Karama, Tsohuwar Kasuwa, Sabuwar Kasuwa, Runjin Sambo, More, Bado, Mana Babba and 500 housing estates respectively. Achida also said Tambuwal has approved the renovation of the fire stations in Rijiyar Dorowa, Yar-Akija, Shagon goro and Arkilla. According to him, '' The Ministry has also proposed the construction of four water schemes to be located in Bado, Arkilla, Runjin Sambo and More. '' They will be equipped with boreholes,20,000 gallons elevated tank and a generator each. '' These water schemes will make it easier to access water during fire fighting operations." He also said efforts were being made to provide adequate foams, chemicals and modern communication gadgets to the Department. Achida stressed the need for the resuscitation of the Fire Service Departments in the 23 LGs of the state. ''This will be done by transferring their total control and staff training to the State Fire Service, hence boost their efficiency,” he said. |
