Work Detail |
The Chilean company STC Sunbelt has installed a photovoltaic system for Andover Alianza Medica, in Pudahuel (Santiago de Chile), that is made up of two installations of 74.25 and 29.79 kW of power. The system has a total of 189 550 W modules, and eight lithium batteries with a total storage capacity of 46.4 kW.
The objective of this second system is to complement the energy generation of the main installation and “support the critical loads identified by the company, such as peripheral lighting, electronic equipment, automated accesses, among others; mandatory when you are located in an area where power outages are frequent,” Sebastián Guerra, business development engineer at STC Sunbelt, told pv magazine .
The orientation of the photovoltaic system is north-west, with a predominance of north (Chile).
Technical challenges
“In Chile, the implementation of a hybrid photovoltaic system dedicated to emergency energy backup is not common, since diesel generators are usually used, therefore this project can be considered a technological innovation and an investment in energy assurance,” Guerra explained.
The work was carried out within a period of three months, including the period during which the installation certification was obtained. The project budget was US$135,000, with an estimated return on investment of six years, without subsidies.
Andover Alianza Medica SA, with headquarters at Salar de Huasco 795, Pudahuel (Santiago de Chile), is a company dedicated to the technical service and maintenance of high-tech medical equipment.
STC Sunbelt SpA, founded in 2013, and based in the town of Providencia (Santiago, Chile), develops solar energy solutions for all types of applications and installations, both residential and industrial, as well as solar thermal projects. Sunbelt is an official distributor of SolaX Power, Longi Solar, Astronergy; and official representative of renowned companies such as Enphase and Simpliphi.
The companys main services are qualified equipment supply and EPC project development. Sunbelt has a network of qualified installation companies throughout Chile on whom it relies for the assembly, operation and maintenance of its projects.
“We develop solar photovoltaic projects connected to the grid under the Netbilling law, self-consumption projects without injections into the grid, PMGD, isolated systems with battery backup, architectural integration projects, solar parking lots, floating installations, among others. We also offer ESCO financing (PPA and Leasing) to alleviate the financial burden of its clients,” said Guerra. |
