At the opening ceremony of the ordinary session of the provincial Legislature, last Monday, Governor Axel Kicillof announced the decision to resume the construction of the sewer trunk network that had previously been suspended by the National Government. The work will be carried out in three stages “We decided to continue with the most relevant projects that the national government has abandoned in terms of access to drinking water and sanitation, such as the replacement of the Pereyra aqueduct in Berazategui, the maximum sewer in Chascomús and the northern sewer collector in Olavarría,” he said. Governor Kicillof during his speech. The news was received with great expectation by Mayor Javier Gastón, who highlighted the joint effort with the provincial government to make this decision possible. In recent months, together with his officials, he carried out intense negotiations with Gabriel Katopodis, current Minister of Infrastructure of the province and former Minister of the Nation, who was in Chascomús and learned about the status of this work and the treatment plant. In addition, the mayor Javier Gastón and the secretary of Public Works, Jorge Marino, met with Néstor Álvarez, undersecretary of Water Resources of the Province of Buenos Aires and former deputy administrator of the National Entity of Water Works and Sanitation of the Nation (ENOHSA), an organization that initially financed this project. The “maximum sewer” in Chascomús, which will be carried out in three stages, aims to extend the service to a large part of the urban area. Its construction will not only represent an important advance in sanitary conditions for the residents of Chascomús, but will also contribute to reducing the environmental impact in the region. The first stage, carried out by the temporary union of the companies MOR and EMAC, consists of 6 kilometers of trunk pipe that will extend from the Neuquén and Hipólito Yrigoyen pumping station to the Treatment Plant, along Hipólito Yrigoyen streets, Colombia, October 12, Castelar, General Paz, Azul and Avenida Costanera España. It also includes the installation of a primary system of collectors to relieve the existing system of networks and pumping stations. The work will have three successive stages that will allow the sewer service to be expanded to the neighborhoods of Algarrobo, La Noria, La Esmeralda, La Pampita, Anahí, Caballito Blanco, Baldomero Fernández Moreno, Iporá, El Hueco, La Concordia, Las Violetas, Esteban Echeverría, Los Aromos and Chascomús Park. |
