They made official that Infrastructure is no longer a Ministry and is reduced to eight: more power for Posse and Caputo

The Government made official this Monday changes in the structure of the National Cabinet, which from now on was configured with eight Ministries, since Infrastructure was reduced to Secretariat, and these modifications realized that the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the head of Cabinet, Nicolás Posse, added power by absorbing new management areas.
As Noticias Argentinas had anticipated exclusively days ago, the Milei management moved forward with a restructuring of the Cabinet and, based on Decrees 194 and 195/2024 published this Monday in the Official Gazette, the elimination of the Ministry of Infrastructure (its incumbent Guillermo Ferraro was displaced last month), whose functions were transferred to Economy.
Meanwhile, the protection of the rights of the actions of state organizations such as Corredores Viales SA, Agua y Saneamientos SA (AySA) and the General Administration of Ports (AGP) are transferred to the orbit of the Chief of Staff.
Competencies related to telecommunications, audiovisual communication services, satellite development and postal services also pass to the Chief of Staff.
Meanwhile, the National Witness Protection Program, which was previously under the purview of Justice, and the Federal Council and the Committee to Fight Trafficking, passed to the Ministry of Security commanded by Patricia Bullrich. It was also decided that the National Institute of Family, Peasant and Indigenous Agriculture would go from Human Capital to Economy.
“One of the axes of President Javier Mileis management is the reform and simplification of the State, aimed at the efficiency and rationalization of state processes and structures for the benefit of citizens. At the beginning of the administration, the ministries were reduced from 18 to 9, and currently there are 8,” the decree highlighted.
To justify this series of changes, President Javier Milei indicated in the recitals of the DNU that these modifications “are essential for government management.”
Since the name of Luis Caputo began to be mentioned as a possible Minister of Economy of Milei after the runoff against Sergio Massa, "Toto" began to gain ground in the inner circle of the libertarian leader. His role, preponderant and key in the adjustment policy of the chainsaw plan, did not stop growing and currently has a super ministry, in charge of a wide range of responsibilities.
Posse has also been gaining influence within the environment of the libertarian leader, increasingly concentrating different areas of management under his wing.
