Work Detail |
At the opening of sessions of the Deliberative Council of Córdoba, Mayor Daniel Passerini announced a series of public works to be carried out during 2024: he promised four drains, a sewage collector, two relievers, 800 blocks to rehabilitate and pave, LED lighting and more boulevards .
At the event held last Friday at the educational park in the southeast area, in the Maldonado neighborhood, Passerini only listed the works and did not go into too much detail.
He said that the boulevardization of Maipú will continue from the intersection with Emilio Olmos to Costanera, so that road will have the same road profile from its beginning in Plaza España: two roads separated by a wide flower bed, where the cycle path will continue, with the forestation and with the installation of Bus Only lane stops that were implemented on the left road, as detailed by the Secretary of Urban Development of the Municipality, Diego Peralta.

In the previous administration, the first blocks of the boulevard extension had been completed, from Illia to Olmos. In parallel, the expansion of the last blocks began, between Sarmiento and Costanera. That work continues, and the curbs are already being built. The homes have already been demolished to free up the layout and all public services have been relocated.
Peralta anticipated that the boulevard profile will continue until the Suquía River, which will involve the construction of the central flower bed with the cycle path and the installation of all the urban furniture along with the forestation.
On the other hand, Passerini mentioned the boulevardization of San Juan. That artery, which runs from east to west on the southern limit of the Center, has the format of a boulevard from Tránsito Cáceres to La Cañada. From that point, it becomes a regular avenue, with a minimum of separation beds. That section, until Mariano Moreno, will become a boulevard: the central bed will be wider, will have a cycle path and will be forested.
The official stressed that the work will be accompanied by greater controls to avoid parking, which is already prohibited along that entire stretch of San Juan.
DRAINS
The mayor also promised the execution of four drains this year. The first is located in the 23 de Abril neighborhood, in the southeastern corner of the city, outside the Ring Road and next to the Materfer property. It is a sector that floods easily, so the work is considered a priority.
The second of the drains will be built on Minerva Street, in the Residencial Olivos neighborhood, in the southwest area. The third is in the northwest area, in the Brigadier San Martín neighborhood.
And the fourth aims to resolve a dangerous situation on Sagrada Familia street, in the west area. It is an artery that has a steep slope and ends at Costanera Avenue. On the access ramp, to the left, there is a work that allows all surface water to drain into the Suquía River.
The problem is that Sagrada Familia, when the rains are heavy, transforms into a mighty and extremely dangerous river. Days ago, a car was swept away by the current, was sucked into that drain and ended up in the Suquía River. Its driver was able to escape in time.
Similar episodes occurred in recent years: in October 2013, a Fiat 128 that crossed the bridge was trapped by the current; In February 2015, a man drove his Fiat 600 into the water and was almost swept away by the current; In January 2017, a 36-year-old motorist was rescued by personnel from the Córdoba Explosives Brigade at a time when her car was being dragged by water; A month later, a Córdoba Police officer along with another officer and a driver managed to rescue a woman from a car that was trapped in the storm drain; In December 2018, the gang took several cars.
Until now, there have been no deaths just by chance.
The Municipality also plans a sewer trunk in the southern area, outside the Circunvalación, and two relievers: the one in the Colón neighborhood and another on the Santa Fe bridge.
On the other hand, the placement of eight thousand LED lights and the paving and rehabilitation of 800 blocks was announced.
Finally, Passerini said that two new CPCs would be created: in Alta Córdoba and in General Paz. Both will operate in the cultural centers of those neighborhoods, which today only host cultural activities. |
