Work Detail The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has recently announced the implementation of new guidelines for the Green Credit Scheme, aiming to promote tree plantation and enhance green cover across the nation. This initiative has been welcomed with enthusiasm and appreciation from various sectors. The Green Credit Scheme is designed to encourage behavioral change and incentivize environmental and ecosystem services across different sectors, aligning with the concept of LiFE introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during COP26 in Glasgow. LiFE advocates for a pro-planet, pro-people way of life, emphasizing mindful utilization over mindless consumption to safeguard the environment and promote sustainability. Furthermore, this initiative aims to incentivize sustainability and climate action in areas such as forest and ecosystem services, waste management, air and water quality improvement, and access to these resources. It will also encourage the adoption of environmentally sustainable technologies and processes by local bodies, individuals, and companies, thereby fostering a culture of environmental stewardship. Expressing his support for the new guidelines, Mr. Manish Dabkara, Chairman & MD of EKI Energy Services Ltd. said, “We applaud the Government’s decisive step towards environmental sustainability with the introduction of the new guidelines for the Green Credit Scheme. This proactive initiative exemplifies the Government’s dedication to spearheading the nation towards achieving net-zero goals. As an organisation deeply committed to environmental stewardship, we wholeheartedly support this endeavor. We stand ready to collaborate and contribute our expertise to ensure the success of this crucial initiative, which holds the promise of a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.” The implementation of the Green Credit Scheme is expected to have far-reaching positive impacts on environmental conservation and climate mitigation efforts nationwide. It will not only contribute to increasing green cover and enhancing ecosystem services but also promote sustainable development practices across various sectors.
