Expansion of the Assa plant: the work remains stopped, only 15% has been completed and they are looking for solutions to traffic. The provincial government awaits definitions from the Nation on the future of the work that aims to expand water production for the city by 70 %. February 20, 2024 · The expansion of the Assa water treatment plant in the Candioti neighborhood is one of the most important works planned for the city. A year ago, work was beginning to slow down; The work continued for months but at a slower pace. The new management of Javier Milei made the decision to stop all public works. The measure had a direct impact on jobs that have been paralyzed since the beginning of January, when 27 workers were laid off. The consequences are direct, but there are also collateral drawbacks. The thing is that even though the work is paralyzed, there are streets that remain closed and generate a great headache in terms of traffic. In that sense, Assa seeks to restore some arteries to normality, especially those that directly affect the La Salle school. Darío Boscarol, member of the Assa board of directors, referred to the work and confirmed: At this moment it is paralyzed. He recalled that it is carried out with national funds, through Enohsa (National Water and Sanitation Works Entity) and that the province carries out the inspections and monitoring, since the project belongs to Aguas Santafesinas. The companys representative stated: At this moment, unfortunately, we have no horizon of continuity. He reported that the work is 15 percent complete and the provinces Water Secretariat is making the arrangements with Enohsa. Boscarol was hopeful regarding the continuity of the work. We cling to the criterion that the works that are underway will continue, but until now we have no certainties, he said in statements to the program De 10 that is broadcast on LT10. In relation to the problems caused by traffic cuts, he announced: «We have two problems that we are solving over the course of these days. One is the cutting of the school (Lasalle), over which Candioti is Governor; Tomorrow (this Wednesday) that street will be enabled. It will provide relief in that sector, along with the start of classes. The other section, not yet, is still affected by the work and we are doing some procedures with the Municipality to see how we generate a different urban situation in that entire sector. «The other issue to be resolved is about Sargento Cabral Street, where the raw water conduit entered. In that artery, the asphalt layer has not been repaired. The contractor has to do it and we are in the process of resolving it quickly, she said. Characteristics of the works In May 2022, the first movements began in the water treatment plant that began the work. The project was designed with a contractual period of two years of execution and is financed by the National Water Works and Sanitation Entity (Enohsa). The investment, without considering updates due to the strong devaluation, was 5,000 million pesos. It will benefit 383,000 inhabitants and will increase the production of the current plant by 75%, reaching a total capacity of 14,500 cubic meters per hour. This will generate the necessary production conditions to expand the service - whose current coverage is 86.6% - to 100% of the city. Likewise, it will improve comprehensive treatment, responding to increased demand and solving current problems of shortages and low pressure in the network, with a projection of satisfaction for the next 30 years. In addition to the construction of a new raw water intake on the Santa Fe River, the project includes an 850-meter aqueduct to the Plant; a new purification module with the capacity to treat 6,250 m3 per hour that will allow optimization of water quality and process efficiency; and a quality laboratory. |
