A survey conducted by Solfácil compared data from the last quarter of 2022 and 2023, with a drop from 4.22 reais ($0.85) per Wp to 2.91 reais ($0.58) per Wp. The reduction was due to the drop in the price of photovoltaic equipment. The survey highlights the Central-West region with the lowest prices. The average price of solar energy in Brazil has fallen 31% in the last year, according to the Radar indicator, a study that measures the price of solar energy carried out by Solfácil, a solar energy ecosystem that offers financing, equipment distribution and monitoring of solar systems, among other services. The value, which was 4.22 reais per watt-peak (Wp) in the last quarter of 2022, fell to 2.91 reais ($0.58) per Wp in the last quarter of 2023. The reduction was due to the fall in the price of solar equipment, the dollar and import freight. In the last quarter of 2023 alone, the reduction was 8%. Also according to the study, the Central-West region has the lowest average price in the country, with 2.77 reais/Wp. This represents a 32% drop compared to the same period in 2022, when it was 4.07 reais/Wp. The Southeast has the second lowest average price, with 2.88 reais/Wp, previously 4.20 reais/Wp, a reduction of 31%. The Northeast follows with an average of 2.92 reais/Wp, compared to 4.26 reais/Wp, a drop of 31.7%. The South region has an average of 2.99 reais/Wp, before 4.15 reais/Wp, a drop of 28% and finally the North region with 3.05 reais/Wp, before 4.31 reais/Wp, a drop of 29%. Price reductions by state and project size All states in Brazil have recorded a drop in the average price of solar energy in the last year. According to the indicator, the states with the greatest price reductions were: Sergipe (39%), Alagoas (35%), Paraíba (33%), Rio Grande do Norte (32%) and Maranhão (32%). The reduction in solar energy prices is good news for Brazilian consumers, who are facing rising electricity prices. For the CEO and founder of Solfácil, Fabio Carrara, with more affordable prices, more people will be able to adopt solar energy as a clean and economical source. “It has never been more viable to have a solar energy system at home. The price of solar equipment has dropped rapidly in recent months. Furthermore, the fall in the Selic rate has also made it possible for more people to have solar energy at home, since financing has become cheaper and more accessible,” says the manager. Most used inverter brands Solfácil also analyzed the choice of inverter brands in different regions of Brazil. Growatt remains the top inverter brand in Brazil, according to the studys Q4 2023 data, but is losing influence to Deye. On the other hand, Goodwe is gaining traction in smaller projects, while Solplanet is growing in larger plants. |
