The company will be responsible for the transportation and installation of 111 extended monopiles.
Dutch offshore services provider Van Oord has been awarded the contract for the construction of the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm.
The project, a joint development by Ørsted and PGE, is situated 40 kilometres offshore Poland in the Baltic Sea.
The company will be responsible for the transportation and installation of 111 extended monopiles – 107 for wind turbines and four for offshore substations.
Van Oord plans to utilise its offshore installation vessel Aeolus and the heavy-lift installation vessel Svanen for the project. The Svanen is set to receive a significant upgrade in 2024, enhancing its capabilities.
The upgrade will extend the gantry crane, transforming the Svanen into one of the world’s largest floating heavy-lift installation vessels and augmenting its lifting capacity.
This enhancement will enable the vessel to install the foundations for the new generation 14MW wind turbines at Baltica 2. |
