The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) in Bahrain has announced the launch of a tender, for the establishment of Solar Power Stations at Al Dur in the Southern Governorate. Aligned with the national goals of diversifying energy resources, the project aims to achieve sustainability and support Bahrain’s energy transformation plan.
The anticipated production capacity of the solar project is set between 90 and 100 megawatts, contributing significantly to the country’s renewable energy portfolio. The turnkey tender encompasses engineering, design, manufacturing, material supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and civil and electromechanical works. Additionally, it includes the connection of the stations to EWA’s Electricity Transmission network.
Issued by the Electricity and Water Authority’s Planning and Studies division, the tender requires an initial bond of BD 5000 and a tender fee of BD 100. The bid validity period is 180 days, and the contract duration is expected to be 18 months from the date of the tender award.
To be eligible for the tender, bidders must meet specific criteria, including significant experience in designing, engineering, and commissioning grid-connected solar power projects. The bidder’s cumulative turnover should be at least USD 100 million in the last three financial years, demonstrating positive net worth, profitability, and expertise in integrating solar power stations with electricity grids.
The deadline for purchasing the tender is March 21, 2024, with the closing date set for April 3, 2024. The opening date for the tender submissions is April 4, 2024. The successful completion of this project will contribute to Bahrain’s commitment to sustainable and diversified energy sources. |
