This is “Electricity at the touch”, which is being developed by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, and covers 23 regions of the country.
As part of the “Electricity at the touch” program that the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (Minem) has been implementing, aimed at families in vulnerable and poor conditions that cannot afford the cost of a home electricity connection, it is expected that this year More than 50 thousand families from various regions will benefit.
The program, financed by the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), has an approved budget of almost four million dollars, according to a statement from Minem.
It is reported that “among the 23 regions reached by the program, the following stand out for the number of beneficiaries: Lambayeque with 4,291 families; followed by Lima with 3,456 home connections; then Cusco with 2,667 favored users; next, the northern region of Piura with 2,590 beneficiaries; followed by La Libertad, where 2,211 low-income families already have electricity in their homes.”
Minem explains that "connection costs frequently become a barrier to access to electricity, which is why this project provides a full subsidy for this process with the aim of illuminating the lives of low-income Peruvians who live dark.”
The beneficiary families "live in homes located in an area with low reach of conventional secondary electrical distribution networks", in addition to not having "an electricity supply or debts derived from another previous supply, among other targeting criteria."
It is stated that the companies Electro Sur Este, Electronorte, Hidrandina, Adinelsa, Luz del Sur, Electrosur, among others, have joined the program. |
