10-year agreement covers output from wind-solar park to supply planned PtX facility in Skive
Eurowind Energy and GreenLab have entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) for clean electricity to supply the latter’s PtX project in Denmark.
The 10-year PPA will cover electricity from Eurowind Energys 84.8MW solar and wind hybrid park located south of GreenLab and will be directly connected to GreenLabs energy infrastructure inside its green industrial park in Skive.
The electricity will be distributed through GreenLabs internal energy infrastructure, the so-called SymbiosisNet.
The electricity will be used by businesses inside the industrial park, working with pyrolysis, biogas, and bioproteins, as well as in the planned PtX facility.
Jens Rasmussen, CEO of Eurowind Energy, said: “I am delighted that the agreement is now in place and that it also takes into account the potential expansion of the energy park if there is a need for additional electricity production over time.
“This is a perfect example of how the production of electricity in the future will be closely connected to the need of the offtaker.”
Christopher Sorensen, CEO of GreenLab, added: “We hope this agreement serves as a stepping stone to demonstrate how co-locating renewable energy parks with industrial consumption can maximise the utilisation of renewable energy.
“This way, energy can be optimally utilised, allowing Eurowind Energys wind turbines, for example, not to stand idle when others do - simply because we at GreenLab can store the energy produced."
The wind and solar park is already generating electricity but has previously supplied power exclusively to the collective grid.
As part of the agreement, any surplus electricity from GreenLab will be directed into the collective grid. |
