Global integrated logistics company A.P. Moller–Maersk (Maersk) has officially broken ground for its upcoming ?113 crore Cold Store facility in Mehsana, North Gujarat, according to an official release. The state-of-the-art facility, dedicated exclusively to HyFun Foods, will provide temperature-controlled storage solutions for perishable frozen processed food items.
Spanning 2.6 lakh square feet, Maersks new Cold Store facility will be situated in proximity to HyFun Foods manufacturing facility, serving as the mother Cold Store. With a capacity for 14,700 pallet positions, the facility, located at the Fanidhar Mega Food Park, is set to become one of Indias largest single-shed cold stores. This significant investment is designed to streamline cargo storage by consolidating it into a single facility, eliminating the need for multiple smaller facilities.
Vikash Agarwal, Managing Director, Maersk South Asia, emphasized the importance of maintaining an unbroken cold chain logistics solution for frozen food items. He stated, "Our new, state-of-the-art facility at Mehsana will be equipped with the highest standards of temperature compliance, with a customized racking system to suit customers exact requirements, and modern technology to ensure top-notch operational accuracy."
Maersks existing integrated cold chain solution will continue to provide a seamless logistics experience for the customer, encompassing landside transportation to the port, coordination at the port, customs clearances, and ocean transportation for all export cargo. The investment represents a strategic move toward achieving a fully integrated and end-to-end logistics solution.
The facility will feature operational and sustainable excellence, incorporating Ammonia refrigeration with zero Global Warming Potential (GWP). High-efficiency compressors will be employed to reduce power consumption, and fire-resistant PIR panels will be used for lower thermal conductivity. Additionally, the facility will be equipped with modern warehouse management systems for efficient inventory management and real-time visibility for customers.
Safety standards will be prioritized, including a human-friendly staging area and a robust fire detection and firefighting system, ensuring the facility adheres to the highest safety protocols. Maersks Captain Peter solution, a Remote Container Management system, will provide customers with real-time visibility during cold chain transportation, monitoring critical elements to ensure logistics integrity. |
