The remodeling of Mérida baseball stadium, located in Yucatan will soon commence after eight years of discussions, without actions. The Mexican army is said to be the driving force behind the construction works.
The announcement was made during the daily press conference of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
The cost of remodeling the Mérida baseball stadium
The project would come at a cost of approximately US $37 million (630 million pesos). This was publicized by the head of the Defense Ministry (Sedena), Gen. Luis Cresencio Sandoval.
The project’s scope of work
It is said that the project will involve the construction of new washrooms, renovated locker rooms, luxury boxes as well as a restaurant and bar along with adjoining workout areas.
There will be installation of ramps and more spaces that can be accessed by wheelchairs in addition to a new roof.
Home to the Yucatan Lions, the stadium was established in 1982, with a capacity to hold 16,537 spectators. The Yucatan Lions compete in the Mexican league with 18 teams. This is Mexico’s pinnacle for the professional summer baseball circuit. |
