Córdoba ring road: where the second ring passes and how it is being executed It
already has one section built and another under construction. It develops about seven kilometers from the first ring. They want to prepare the arch that goes from the E-53 highway to Route 9 south.
Less visible than the closure of the Circunvalación avenue in the city of Córdoba, the execution of the second ring road is progressing steadily, about seven kilometers from the first, and which connects localities in the metropolitan area that surround the Capital.
The route has already begun to materialize in the northern arc, where in mid-June the first 7.5-kilometer section was opened between the Juárez Celman highway and the A-174 route that connects with Colonia Tirolesa. The investment in this work was 2,710 million pesos.
In addition, a second section of 3.6 kilometers is being executed between Route E-53 Autovía Córdoba Río Ceballos and the Juárez Celman Bypass, with a level of progress of 78 percent and an investment of 1.1 billion pesos.
The route continues towards the southeast, with the aim of reaching Route 9 South. There are 34 kilometers that also connect the new Ring Road to the national route 19 highway. “It is the most usable part, which is the junction of the E53 to the 9 south, it will give life to the route and will greatly relieve the existing Beltway,” explained the Minister of Public Works of the Province, Ricardo Sosa.

The government of Juan Schiaretti wants to have it already tendered and in execution. Sosa announced that work will be done in simultaneous sections, just as was done with the third lane of the Circunvalación. The budget is 17 billion pesos.
“When we closed Circunvalación Avenue and then added the third lane, traffic began to flow with a greater volume, which is why the six nodes that had been too small were rebuilt. And it was decided to begin executing the second ring, which aims to reduce traffic on the Beltway, so that the residents of the towns of Greater Córdoba can communicate with each other without reaching the Capital and also avoid the passing traffic of trucks that arrive on routes 9 south and north, and on route 19,” the official said.

Towards the south, a 40-kilometer route is being studied to close the southern arc, which runs from Route 9 south to the highway to Carlos Paz. The idea is that it will be at the height of the Los Cedros commune and that it will pass east of Malagueño.
Then comes the most complex section, which is not defined and is analyzed by the Metropolitan Area Planning Institute, which is the connection between the Carlos Paz highway and the E53 highway. The problem is that it crosses the lands of the Second Division of the Army, which are considered a Military Natural Reserve of Defense.

Work began in 2022 with the construction of the 12 kilometers. The first stage of the work was divided into three sections, and two of them were opened to vehicular traffic on June 17.
They include the 7.5 kilometers between the Juárez Celman highway and Route A-174 that connects with Colonia Tirolesa. A bidirectional route 7.30 meters wide and with three-meter shoulders was built, which in the future will become the southern carriageway of the highway since the project foresees the construction of another carriageway parallel to the current one and a central flower bed as dividing.

A 50-meter-long and 11.6-meter-wide bridge was erected over the railroad and Route 9 north, which has their respective connecting branches; and the readjustment of the traffic distributor located on the Juárez Celman Variante highway, near the Free Trade Zone, was carried out.
Drainage works were carried out through retention ponds, horizontal demarcation, vertical signage and security works; while now work is being done on the distributor lighting work.

The Legislature of Córdoba declared the land affected by the layout of 33.9 new kilometers between the road to Colonia Tirolesa and the route of public utility 9 South. It is an extremely complex segment, which requires the construction of distributors at the main intersections with provincial and national routes.
The list includes the crossings with provincial routes A-112 (Camino Santa Rosa), A-188 (Camino a Montecristo) and its crossing on the railway, national route 19, provincial route U-201 (Camino Chacra de la Merced), Córdoba-Rosario Highway and the intersection with Sabattini Avenue in the city of Córdoba.
In addition to the distributors, five returns will be built in different progressives.
