Kerala is set to revolutionize the travel industry with the imminent launch of a heli-tourism project, unveiled by Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas during a Saturday launch event in Kochi, the designated hub for the innovative venture.
This pioneering service aims to connect eleven diverse destinations, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Jadayu Para, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Idukki, Munnar, Kumarakom, Kozhikode, and Kasaragod. The strategic locations chosen for connectivity underline the states commitment to enhancing tourism experiences.
Tourists can anticipate significant time savings with these initiatives, as outlined by the Minister. In tandem with the heli-tourism project, Kerala Tourism plans to launch an informative microsite to guide and inform potential visitors.
In anticipation of the projects full-scale implementation, discussions have commenced to introduce new helipads in key locations. The government is actively engaging with private players to ensure the seamless execution of the heli-tourism endeavor.
The heli-tourism services will be categorized into three types. Firstly, City Rides will facilitate short trips within the city or to nearby tourist spots. The second category, Destination-to-Destination Connect, aims to link tourist destinations within the state, simplifying exploration for visitors. The third type, Tourism Packages, will encompass curated trips interconnecting three to four destinations, offering a comprehensive travel experience.
Kerala Tourisms role in the heli-tourism project will be that of a facilitator, while private agencies will provide the services, adhering to all security specifications. Operators are required to obtain necessary approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security before launching the service.
Choppers employed for the heli-tourism services will have a seating capacity ranging from six to twelve passengers. Expressions of interest will soon be invited, with aspiring operators expected to submit detailed plans for consideration, as disclosed by the Tourism Minister. This groundbreaking initiative is poised to elevate Keralas tourism offerings and provide an unparalleled experience for visitors exploring the scenic beauty of the state. |
