Anglo American, Colbún and Reborn Electric Motors participate, and it has the support of the Production Promotion Corporation (Corfo). The vehicle is expected to be operational in 2025.
An initiative that brings together private companies and public entities aims to develop a hydrogen-powered bus by 2025.
The companies Anglo American, Colbún and Reborn Electric Motors are part of the agreement, and there is support from the Production Promotion Corporation (Corfo).
The initiative starts with a budget of 755 thousand dollars, contributed in equal parts by Colbún, Anglo American and Corfo, while the manufacturing will be carried out by Reborn Electric Motors, a local technology startup, through the development of electric buses in Rancagua.
The National Pilotage Center (CNP) and Fundación Chile will also participate in this alliance as strategic partners.
The project seeks to develop all the stages inherent in the construction of the vehicle, which is proposed for public transport routes. In this sense, the CNP, supported by Corfo, will carry out the test of both the functionality of the design and its performance on the road.
It is estimated that the bus will have capacity for 24 passengers, a projected range of 450 kilometers and a maximum speed of 90 km/h.
The projected dimensions of the unit are 8.5 meters long, 2.4 meters wide and a height of 3.4 meters.
Intended to operate in industrial, urban or rural environments, the fuel storage tanks will have an approximate capacity of 20 kg.
The schedule foresees engineering development until May 2024, then the assembly and technological and technical testing stages, until the unit is fully operational by the first half of 2025. |
