Work Detail French marine contractor and vessel operator Jifmar Offshore Services has snapped up all workboat activities of Dutch offshore shipowner and operator Acta Marine for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition covers 26 workboats, the crews, the Netherlands-based firm and all existing contracts. Acta Marine’s offshore wind construction support and walk-to-work businesses have not been included in the deal, which will lift Jifmar’s fleet to 72 vessels. Jean-Michel Berud, CEO of Jifmar Offshore Services, expressed, “Together with Acta Marine Workboats, Jifmar will become the world’s largest independent operator of workboats. We have now obtained a strong base in the Netherlands, being a centre for international workboat activities.” Acta Marine’s workboat unit will continue to operate from its Den Helder office in the Netherlands as a branch office under the Jifmar brand with the name Acta Jifmar. Managing director, Govert Jan van Oord, will transfer with the business and will lead the Dutch activities for Jifmar. Moving forward, Acta Marine will retain its Rotterdam office and staff. The company currently has three walk-to-work vessels operating and four more vessels under construction, with deliveries in 2024.
