Gravita India Limited, a prominent recycling company with a global manufacturing presence, has officially commenced commercial production of Recycled Polypropylene Granules at its step-down subsidiary in Tanzania, East Africa. The new plastic recycling plant boasts an annual capacity of approximately 1,800 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA).
This development aligns with Gravitas strategy of expanding its recycling business across diverse geographies. The company already operates similar plastic recycling facilities in Ghana, Senegal, Mozambique, and India.
The Group has invested approximately Rs. 2.25 Crores for the procurement and commissioning of the Recycling Plant in Tanzania, financed through internal accruals. The plant is geared to source domestic plastic scrap for production and will cater to the requirements of plastic manufacturing industries in Europe and Asia. This strategic move is expected to alter the companys sales mix by increasing the contribution from the plastic business segment.
