Finnish renewable energy developer and producer Ilmatar Energy has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with US snacks producer Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ:MDLZ), securing an off-taker of electricity generated its 38.4-MW wind farm in Finland.
Ilmatar said on Wednesday that it will start construction of the Korpilevonmaki wind farm immediately, expecting to reach commercial operation date in the beginning of 2026.
The Korpilevonmaki project site is located some 14 kilometres (8.7 miles) from the centre of the Sakyla municipality in south-west Finland. Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) was awarded the contract to supply, install, commission and service the wind farm’s six turbines.
Ilmatar acquired the project rights to Korpilevonmaki in 2021, when it was planned to have seven wind turbines for a total of 42 MW of capacity. The company said that the Korpilevonmaki wind farm will remain in its ownership throughout its lifecycle. |
