The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has granted a generation license to the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) for its 88.0 MW Hydel based generation facility, Gabral Kalam Hydel Power Plant, located on River Gabral in District Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This decision follows the application by PEDO for a generation license under the amended Regulation of Generation, Transmission, and Distribution of Electric Power Act of 1997.
According to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, this license, designated as Generation Licence No. GL (Hydel)/20/2023, is a significant step in enhancing the hydropower generation capacity in Pakistan, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The grant of this license is pursuant to Section-14B of the aforementioned Act, amended in 2018, and underscores NEPRAs role in regulating and promoting sustainable energy solutions in the country. |
