Work Detail Subsea 7 has been awarded a sizeable contract by Shell offshore Brazil. The Oslo-listed offshore services player will carry out the decommissioning of subsea infrastructure associated with the floating production storage and offloading vessel Fluminense. The work scope, set to start in December, includes the disconnection, recovery, and disposal of 10 flexible risers, three umbilicals and nine mooring lines. The 49-year-old converted vessel will be scrapped after 20 years of operation in the Campos Basin’s Bijupirá and Salema oil fields. The unit will arrive at MARS Europe in Frederikshavn in Northern Denmark in 2024. Yann Cottart, Subsea7 Brazil Vice-President, said: “Twenty years ago, Subsea 7 installed the flexibles and umbilicals for Shell’s Bijupirá and Salema fields and, two decades later, we’re proud to be one of Shell’s chosen contractors to take part in the completion of this field’s life cycle.” Subsea 7 defines sizeable contracts as worth between $50m and $150m.
