Work Detail |
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 19 projects with a total investment of approx. Rs 56,000 crore to revive private investment in the highways sector.
These highway projects, covering a length of around 900 km, will be offered in the build-operate-transfer (BOT-toll) mode. It will spread across several states, including Assam, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana. Among these, a maximum of 13 such projects are in Maharashtra.
The contracts for BOT-toll projects are mostly for a longer period of time (15-20 years), and the contractors would recover their investment through toll collections. A meeting with stakeholders will be held soon to speed up the implementation of BOT projects.
Considering the traffic flow on the segments, all of the identified projects are financially viable. Recently, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has directed NHAI and other roads ministry wings to come up with more projects under the BOT-toll mode. |
