Work Detail | The competition in the high-end smartphone market is starting to become fierce. With Samsung's latest installment, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and Apple's upcoming smartphone, the iPhone 7, fans are now getting pretty anxious to know who will come out to the top with the strongest flagship. However, it seems like Microsoft is preparing a flagship that could stand up to the two tech giants. The device in question is the long-rumored Microsoft Surface Phone. Fans should take note, though, that Microsoft has yet to officially confirm the existence of the Surface Phone. However, some still believe that the Redmond-based tech giant is working on something behind the curtain that would top Apple's iPhone 7 sales and performance. According to The Country Caller, reliable sources have tipped that Microsoft is planning to equip its Surface Phone with high-end, powerful components that could overpower the upcoming iPhone 7 — if it really does exist. A few of the high-end components that the rumor mill has suggested for the Microsoft Surface Phone are: the next-generation Intel processor, Kaby Lake; a massive random access memory (RAM) of 8 gigabytes (GB); and the next current-generation build of Microsoft's operating system, the Windows 10 Redstone. Other reports, however, believe that the Microsoft Surface Phone might run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 system on chip — considering that the recently launched Kaby Lake generation is only for the desktop and possibly laptop formats, and there hasn't been any announcement yet about its mobile version. Since Microsoft still hasn't confirmed the existence of the Surface Phone, fans are highly advised to take these circulating reports with a tiny pinch of salt and consider them as mere speculations at the moment. Meanwhile, in terms of release date, tech enthusiasts previously believed that the Microsoft Surface Phone might officially make its public debut at the ongoing IFA 2016 in Berlin, Germany. Some, however, think that this may not happen and that the unveiling time frame could be pushed back to sometime next month at Microsoft's very own event. |
