Work Detail With the Southern Railway making swift progress on the construction of a subway for pedestrians and motorcycles near Ambattur Railway Station, utilizing the precast method, the Chennai Corporation is now preparing for the remaining portion of the project. Officials have reported that 20 meters of the 48-meter width within the railway section have been successfully completed using precast blocks. The remaining work, expected to conclude within 15 days, will employ the push-through method, wherein prefabricated structures will be pushed beneath the railway tracks. Chennai Corporation officials have indicated that the tender for the remaining segments on either side of the railway tracks will be floated shortly. The entire project is projected to be finalized within nine months. The estimated cost of the project stands at ?12.97 crore, and delays have been attributed to the relocation of utilities by Tangedco and Metrowater. Originally proposed before the pandemic, the project gained momentum as officials opted to leverage new technology to expedite the work.
