L&T Construction has clinched a significant project from GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Ltd, securing the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the greenfield Bhogapuram International Airport in Andhra Pradesh. The project is set to undergo development in two phases, initially accommodating a capacity of 6 MPA (million passengers per annum) and subsequently expanding to 12 MPA. The project encompasses various critical development tasks, including cut and fill works, construction of the terminal with airport systems, an Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, airfield development works (including a 3800-meter South Runway, Apron, Taxiways, Airfield Ground Lighting, Fuel Hydrant works, and other essential facilities), landside facilities such as roads and landscapes, utilities, and other support facilities. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is already actively engaged in the construction of major airports in prominent Indian cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, and Navi Mumbai. The new contract further solidifies L&Ts position in the sector and underscores the companys ability to deliver comprehensive greenfield airport projects.
