Work Detail |
The SRTF announced the successful completion of all its activities under its Electricity intervention, “Providing Solar Power and Clean Water to Health Centres in Ar-Raqqa and Deir Ez-Zor”.
The main activities under this intervention included installing water purification systems in 14 health facilities and solar systems in 7 of those facilities.
These systems were also tested and deemed operational and effective. Other activities included construction works, such as the installation of water storage systems and concrete bases for water tanks, the purchase of equipment, excavation works and the fabrication of solar stands.
Such efforts contribute towards the aim of this intervention, of providing solar power and clean water to 14 health facilities in villages across Ar-Raqqa and Deir Ez-Zor, given the increased need for clean water sources and reliable electricity within the facilities. Providing such essential resources, also allowing for increased access to potable water and longer electricity supply hours, will enable consistent and adequate medical services to patients while restricting the spread of waterborne diseases and reducing morbidity rates. Additionally, relevant staff members are provided with technical training sessions on the best practices regarding the operation and maintenance of the systems.
This intervention will directly benefit around 20,200 patients per month, in addition to 403 staff members, with a budget of around EUR 430,000 over a period of 12 months, which includes one month for preparation and six months for post-implementation monitoring and evaluation. It will also indirectly benefit around 58,000 community members through the provision of improved health services and sustainable energy solutions, which would in turn, improve lives across their communities. |
