Work Detail |
This is the section of the artery in the North zone, where almost $6 billion will be invested for resurfacing and speed bumps will be changed.
A week ago, the contract was signed between the National Highway Administration and the company that will be in charge of the resurfacing work. of Route 40 North in the section between Talacasto and San Roque, in Jáchal. Now, in advance of the start of the works, Tiempo de San Juan toured the area and marked the sections of the route in the worst conditions.
Facing the road from South to North, the breaks in the route are quickly noticed. From a climb, after about three kilometers from the start to the town of Talacasto, you can see the first section of the saw zone generated by the wear of the asphalt layer, which extends for about 200 meters.
Meanwhile, already in the sector located between the camp belonging to National Highways and kilometer 3,539 of the road, it begins to be perceived that the route disappears from the side. That is, the pavement begins to look eaten away on its sides.
About 10 kilometers later, there comes another complicated area. The route becomes increasingly narrower and suddenly an area of ??cracked patches begins to be perceived, with increasingly broken edges towards the rocky shoulder. In that area, the only thing that remains in condition is the horizontal signage of the white lines that marks the middle of the route. Meanwhile, the white line on the side disappears due to the breaks. This section extends for approximately one kilometer.
Going even further, when the series of curves, countercurves and speed bumps arrive, the asphalt once again shows the same difficulties, it becomes smaller, worn and becomes rocky. The condition of the speed bumps in this section is worse, the lower parts show high deterioration. The road continues in these conditions for long kilometers. And then, the intermittency begins to be perceived between sectors with characteristics similar to the previous ones and others, in better conditions. In this way, the panorama continues until reaching the destination.
The details of the planned works
Exactly a week ago, Governor Sergio Uñac agreed with the National Highway authorities to carry out the work in the northern area of ??Route 40 and also, of the 26 kilometers on the same route, in the section located between the town of Tres Corners and the intersection with Provincial Route No. 295, at the access to the town of Cochagual, in the South of the province.
In the case of the works on jachallera land, it was specified that the repaving will include 19 kilometers of road, for which an investment of $5.976 billion will be made.
The construction includes embankments to carry out the elevation over the current route, to then start the asphalt paving and the replacement of the existing speed bumps with concrete culverts, so that the water courses do not affect the roadway. This is because, according to the authorities, this is one of the essential problems surrounding traffic interruptions to and from Jáchal.
This section, financed by the National Treasury, has an execution period of one year and is expected to employ about 200 construction workers in its peak phase. According to the announcement, work would begin before the middle of next month.
This project is the continuity of the emergency work completed at Adán Quiroga, on the way to Jáchal, which is now fully open to traffic on its four kilometers. The company awarded the work is the company SEMISA. |
