Ambition presented in Cotonou by the Beninese Minister of Energy, Water and Mines, Samou Adambi
By 2030, Benin would have a total installed capacity of at least 300 megawatts in photovoltaic solar energy, Beninese Minister of Energy, Water and Mines Samou Adambi declared on October 7 in Cotonou . .
Mr. Adambi made these remarks during the 15th meeting of ministers responsible for energy from member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS ) and at the same time affirmed the commitment and the determination of his country in the path of energy transition.
Faced with recurring difficulties relating to access to electricity, the Beninese government very early on committed itself to securing the countrys electricity supply, recalled the minister.
In addition to the 127-megawatt Maria-Gléta thermal power plant and the 25-megawatt Illoulofin solar power plant , which have already been commissioned, Benin plans to install thermal power plants, photovoltaic solar power plants and hydraulic power plants in several regions of the country, said Mr. Adambi.
Benin is resolutely working to play its part in the regional integration of the electricity sector, while placing particular emphasis on its energy autonomy, declared the minister. |
