Former Minister and prominent BJP leader, K.S. Eshwarappa, has issued a fervent appeal to the State government, urging the immediate release of funds necessary for the completion of houses approved under a range of housing schemes.
During a press conference held in Shivamogga on Thursday, Mr. Eshwarappa revealed that approximately 15,000 beneficiaries had been sanctioned houses through schemes sponsored jointly by the Central and State governments. These beneficiaries have diligently submitted their contributions, amounting to ?80,000 for general category applicants and ?50,000 for those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
"I am fully aware of the immense difficulties faced by these beneficiaries in providing their contributions. Many women, in particular, have had to part with their cherished mangal sutra (sacred thread) to fulfill their share of the contributions. Nonetheless, the construction of these houses remains in limbo due to the delay in disbursing the State governments share," Mr. Eshwarappa expressed.
He went on to make a heartfelt plea to Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan to visit Shivamogga personally and engage with the beneficiaries. This, Mr. Eshwarappa explained, would enable a deeper understanding of the gravity of the situation and the hardships faced by those affected.
Additionally, the former Minister asserted that if the State government fails to address the issue and release the necessary funds, the Shivamogga district unit of the BJP is prepared to stage protests as a means of drawing attention to the predicament.
In response to a question, Mr. Eshwarappa conveyed that the BJP has been diligently working to unseat the Congress government. He remarked, "It is an anti-people government. The discontent with this government extends not only to BJP MLAs but also to legislators within the ruling party. There is no hesitation in stating that we are actively endeavoring to remove this government."
